Bedfordshire Police are seeking a proactive and experienced Cleaning Supervisor to support the delivery of high‑quality cleaning services across our estate. This key operational role is responsible for coordinating day‑to‑day cleaning across multiple sites, ensuring environments remain safe, hygienic, and fully compliant with statutory requirements and force standards. The role involves leading, supporting, and developing cleaning staff while maintaining consistent service delivery across operationally sensitive policing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily cleaning operations to ensure services are delivered to agreed standards and schedules.
- Manage rotas, task allocation, cover arrangements, and respond to operational demands and ad‑hoc requests.
- Provide first‑line supervision, including recruitment, induction, training, performance, attendance, and wellbeing.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, and infection prevention and control standards.
- Conduct routine audits to monitor cleanliness and address any areas for improvement.
- Oversee stock control, equipment, and machinery, ensuring resources are fit for purpose and cost effective.
- Respond to stakeholder queries, feedback, and complaints professionally, escalating where appropriate.
About You
- Proven experience in a cleaning supervisory or management role across multiple sites.
- Strong understanding of commercial cleaning standards, COSHH, and Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience managing staff, including rotas, performance, and attendance in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrable experience delivering services against defined standards, audits, or inspections.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, safe systems of work, and infection control practices.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) qualification.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and resources effectively.
- Ability to work independently and travel between sites.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- IT literate, including email, reporting, and basic systems.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience working within public sector, emergency services, healthcare, or complex estates.
