An exciting Police Staff role – Prepare Officer – opens within the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) for Counter‑Terrorism Policing. The successful candidate will prepare for terrorist attacks, support exercises and live incidents throughout the Eastern Region and occasionally on a national level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate meetings, training and exercises across the Eastern Region
  • Maintain a debriefing function to learn from testing, exercising and real‑life incidents
  • Assist with risk management and knowledge sharing within the National Prepare portfolio
  • Join a small, dedicated team that tests Counter‑Terrorism plans and aims to reduce the impact of attacks
  • Attend and lead workshops and exercises in partnership with police, emergency services, government departments and the military
  • Undertake the two‑year National Prepare Training Pathway while working through daily duties
  • Provide required training and support to a national standard, as supplied by the Prepare team

Qualifications

  • Applicants holding dual nationality must relinquish non‑British nationality
  • Awaiting Management Vetting (5‑year residency) and Security Clearance (5‑year residency) – must be prepared to undergo these checks
  • Success in a civil service selection process and willingness to comply with the Civil Service Nationality Rules
  • Ability to work normally 0800‑1600 Monday to Friday, with flexibility for out‑of‑hours exercises and live incidents
  • Strong communication, partnership and problem‑solving skills strongly preferred
