This is a unique opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to join the Supplier Relationship Management team within the commercial function, supporting the 7 police forces across the east of England (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk, and Suffolk). The collaboration is responsible for third party spend of approximately £250m per annum, making the 7 Force Collaboration the second largest police procurement collective after the Metropolitan Police. The role aims to manage suppliers strategically to secure savings and deliver social, economic, and environmental benefits.

You will develop and manage the commercial relationship with a designated portfolio of strategic suppliers to ensure value for money. You will lead and/or support complex commercial negotiations, promote innovation, enforce sanctions for poor performance, defend the Forces from contractual claims, and drive a coordinated contract management function across seven forces.

Requirements and experience:

  • Strong analytical skills to align procurement solutions with customer needs.
  • Strategic thinking about category market developments and opportunities for the 7 Forces.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to drive change and develop an integrated commercial and contract management function across seven forces.
  • Good organizational, time management and project management skills to ensure delivery of results to deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the UK as required.

Qualifications:

  • MCIPS Level 6 or equivalent, with evidence of experience in a commercially focused procurement role within a complex public sector organisation.
  • Significant knowledge of current contract law and the application of EU Public Procurement Regulations and legislation.
