Overview
An exciting and rewarding opportunity for a full time post as a Rehabilitation Instructor in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Outpatients team within the Cambridge locality. Depending on service demand you may be asked to work in a split-base role between Cambridge and Ely.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the physiotherapy and Specialist service integrated team to enhance patients’ rehabilitation, recovery and outcomes, providing the next steps in physiotherapy treatment through motivating and advising patients of effective management strategies.
- Manage your own caseload of patients for exercise-based rehabilitation; lead rehabilitation classes and pain management groups; contribute to the development of our service.
- Lead rehabilitation and education-based classes, including pain management, Osteoarthritis and strength and conditioning; provide high quality therapy services in the outpatient MSK department.
- Be responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and stock control of materials and equipment within the rehabilitation setting.
- Undertake the provision of rehabilitation classes for problems such as Osteoarthritis, spinal pain and chronic pain management; use exercise prescription, advice and education to modify and improve patient performance in group and individual settings to promote self-management.
- Hold responsibility for own caseload with the ability to re-assess patients by questioning, observing and measuring abilities and needs; perform clinical judgement to evaluate patient progress and record subjective and objective measurements.
- Coordinate, implement and progress rehabilitation groups independently; work flexibly within a team structure under supervision; provide a high standard of therapy service to patients in the outpatient department.
- Provide mobility assessments and walking aids as required; support linkages with exercise referral schemes and other agencies promoting health and wellbeing.
- Ensure safe and competent use of gym equipment, patient appliances and aids; maintain accurate, comprehensive, up-to-date documentation in line with CCS standards; demonstrate confidence in reporting patient progress and non-clinical incidents.
Qualifications
- Strong profile of qualifications which may include but is not exclusive to a sports/physiology related degree providing a strong exercise physiology background.
- Level 3 personal trainer qualification and ongoing relevant CPD qualifications; evidence of training in rehabilitation and exercise referral prescription.
- In-depth exercise-based knowledge of anatomy and physiology with evidence of studying a high level of human anatomy and physiology and its application through experience in exercise rehabilitation in both individual and class-based settings.
