We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work in the Psychological Skills Service. There will be an expectation to work across county depending on service/client need; your base will be determined upon successful recruitment. In the Psychological Skills Service, occupational therapists understand how developmental trauma impacts brain development leading to difficulties in sensory modulation, praxis, and cognitive development. These difficulties contribute to later mental health and a person's ability to engage in meaningful occupations including psychological therapy. PSS OTs are additionally trained in Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI), which means they can assess for, and help people identify, learn and develop skills in relation to their own sensory processing patterns – including modulation and praxis.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and support individuals with sensory processing differences, linking strategies to self-regulation and participation in daily activities and meaningful occupations.
  • Apply knowledge of Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) to identify, learn and develop skills related to sensory processing patterns, including modulation and praxis.
  • Work with individuals to understand how these factors influence participation in daily activities and overall wellbeing; teach skills and strategies that may be delivered by a support worker with regular supervision from the OT.
  • Travel independently around the county to meet service needs and deadlines as required for the role.
  • Ensure effective planning and timely delivery of services in line with service requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle; public transport is not considered a reliable option for meeting service needs. Please confirm in your application that you meet these criteria.
  • Demonstrate ability to travel as required and to work across county as needed.
