Overview

We are a multi-disciplinary team offering a diverse range of professional approaches, including Family Therapy, Nursing, Occupational therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social work, and Mental health Practitioners. We work with young people who are experiencing moderate to severe emotional, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. We emphasise service user participation and feedback as an integral part of developing and delivering person-centred and inclusive care.

You will have a strong teamwork ethic, the ability to work autonomously, personal accountability, and the ability to work well under pressure. You will have access to regular individual and group clinical supervision, CPD opportunities within and outside of the service, and the support of a robust and supportive multidisciplinary team. You will also contribute to ensuring the smooth running and organisation of the service, supporting research, evaluation and service development to ensure care is responsive, effective and equitable.

As a CBT practitioner, you will primarily work within a clinical setting in our out-patient clinic, with the possibility of providing support in other environments such as home, education or community settings to meet the needs of children and young people.

The role involves delivering high-quality care that empowers children and young people, supports their recovery, and contributes to the development of services and care planning. You will work as an integral member of the CAMHS locality team, providing assessments, interventions and care coordination to children, young people, families and carers. The role values creative and flexible approaches in partnership with service users, their networks and the wider professional network.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychological assessments of children and adolescents referred to CAMHS, based on the integration of data from self-report measures, rating scales, structured observations and semi-structured interviews with young people, families and others involved in care.
• Individually formulate, plan, implement and evaluate plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of a young person’s mental health across a range of settings.
• Implement psychological interventions in own area of specialty for individual children and young people, families/carers, and groups; refine formulations drawing on developmental, cognitive, learning theory, and biological models.
• Evaluate and decide on treatment options, considering theoretical and therapeutic models and complex historical/developmental factors.
• Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, formulation, treatment and discharge, and manage caseload in line with service requirements.
• Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals for formulation, diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Contribute to a psychologically informed framework of care across settings and agencies serving children and families.
• Communicate sensitively about assessment, formulation and treatment plans, monitor progress, and work with multi-disciplinary teams and other agencies.
• Communicate appropriately with clients, families and others about potentially distressing information related to assessment and treatment plans.
• Undertake risk assessment and risk management, advising other professionals according to policy and procedures.
• Act as care coordinator, arranging CPA reviews as required, coordinating the care team and monitoring progress during multi-disciplinary interventions.
• Monitor and evaluate progress and produce timely reports on psychological assessments, formulations and treatment outcomes.
