Overview
Tele-coach / Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner role at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). Based in Huntingdon; provides support across the county to people of all ages as part of the First Response Service.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to people of all ages identifying or in a mental health crisis.
- Conduct brief clinical risk and mental state assessments; formulate risk levels.
- Provide brief psychological interventions; validate, de-escalate crisis, and coach distress tolerance and emotional regulation strategies.
- Undertake clinical risk assessments in line with local policies; work with the team and seek guidance from senior colleagues as needed.
- Predominantly phone-based tele-coaching with opportunities to support face-to-face assessments in the community as part of an MDT; work with other agencies including emergency services and other mental health services.
- Work in shifts to provide a 24/7 service (early, late, and night shifts: 08:00-20:00, 11:00-23:00, 20:00-08:00).
Requirements / What we\’re looking for
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and operate with limited supervision, supported by a Clinical Lead.
- Interest or experience in mental health crisis support; familiarity with risk assessment and emergency response environments.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills with community agencies and MDTs.
- Flexibility to work within CPFT’s 24/7 service and adhere to local policies and procedures.
