We have an exciting opportunity for an Activity Co-ordinator to join our team on AAU. Activity Co-ordinators hold a key role across our wards and services, providing vital care and support to our service users; providing social and therapeutic activities. Their contribution to the running of an effective service is crucial and they are a key part of the team. You may be required to undertake and successfully complete the new national Care Certificate within a 12 weeks’ timeframe if you meet our criteria. You will receive full training and support and The Care Certificate sets out 15 national care standards that must be achieved by all health and social care staff to demonstrate that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe and excellent quality of care. It is a foundation programme which can provide the first steps to career development within the NHS.
Responsibilities
- The provision and co-ordination of meaningful group and activity sessions for service users.
- The development of activities with individuals and the provision of support to enable people to engage in activity.
- To offer group based sessions with a focus on skill development/social inclusion/communication/education and recovery.
- Working alongside the Nursing and Occupational Therapy team.
- Providing support and practical assistance to service users in order for them to regain confidence in their skills and abilities to enable a successful re integration into the community.
- Inspiring hope and belief that recovery is possible in others.
- Within a relationship of mutuality, facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfillment of socially valued roles and connection to local communities.
- Promotion of their role within the ward and wider care setting.
