The Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is looking for an experienced Casework and Correspondence Manager to provide a high-quality casework, correspondence and executive support function within the Mayors Office. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will work closely with the Mayor, Mayoral Policy Advice Team and senior officers to manage complex casework, correspondence and enquiries on behalf of the Mayor.
You will manage casework from receipt through to resolution, lead on politically sensitive and high-profile enquiries, oversee the Mayors inbox and draft clear, accurate and appropriately tailored responses. You will also provide insight into emerging issues and themes from casework, support engagement with residents and stakeholders, and work with senior officers on Mayoral events, roundtables, summits and other strategic initiatives. This is a high-profile role requiring excellent judgement, discretion, political awareness and communication skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
About you
- A strong understanding of local government, combined authorities and the role of the Mayor.
- Knowledge of the political, economic and social landscape of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft politically sensitive correspondence.
- Strong judgement and the ability to identify sensitive, high-priority and politically significant matters.
- Experience of building trusted relationships with senior colleagues, elected representatives and external stakeholders.
