Information for the role of Conference and Events Manager
Salary up to £45,130 per annum for 36.25 hours per week
An excellent opportunity to join a prestigious organisation in a strong period of growth, in a varied and fulfilling role with a small friendly team. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the Conference and Events Manager is responsible for generating income by developing and maximising opportunities for the College’s commercial event spaces and accommodation. The role will directly line manage four staff and will oversee the events office and AV Support team, ensuring excellence in planning and execution of events from conception to completion.
To be considered for this interesting role, you will need:
- Substantial experience of delivering conferences, events and AV services at an events venue, ensuring that all services provided meet the clients’ needs and events are run efficiently.
- Demonstrable experience selling residential events, producing B&B rate strategies and developing new products.
- Have supervisory or line management experience, ideally gained within an events management environment.
- Knowledge of audio and visual systems and awareness of new trends would be an advantage.
- Thorough understanding of the work of a conference and events team, including an awareness of business development, managing future sales and revenue streams, and efficient budgeting to maximise income generated.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail and good numeracy skills.
- Friendly and approachable, confident and assertive.
- Someone with a flexible approach to work and tasks.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft 365, experience of using conference or marketing databases.
- Knowledge of the KX Event Management System would be an advantage but not essential.
Details of the role
The post of Conference and Event Manager is a permanent full time role. Applications are invited from suitably experienced candidates.
Hours of work are 36.25 hours per week with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break. We may require some flexibility on hours to accommodate with event co-ordination and management. The annual salary is up to £45,130 gross per annum dependant on experience for 36.25 hours per week (Step 57 on the College Salary Scale).
