About the Role

We have a vacancy for an experienced Senior Editor to contribute to the successful implementation of ELT publishing plans by leading the editorial project management of allocated publishing levels and/or components within the Schools publishing team. In this role, you will work closely with members of a highly collaborative international team to deliver the allocated publishing on schedule, within budget and to the appropriate quality.

Responsibilities

  • To lead on the development of allocated course components or levels, by managing schedules, budgets, and editorial resources.
  • To ensure that content under development is engaging, motivating and pedagogically sound.
  • To work with the Commissioning Editor and/or Product Owner to ensure that wider project goals and milestones are met.
  • To contribute to the definition of detailed editorial scope and requirements.
  • To set, plan, schedule, and monitor project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools, reporting routinely to the project team.
  • To schedule and coordinate the work of authors/writers, and in-house or freelance editorial staff, anticipating workflow and scheduling obstacles, and identifying corrective actions to address issues and risks.
  • To ensure project budget is adhered to, so that any budget-related risks are identified and mitigated in a timely way.
  • To communicate with team members and other stakeholders to ensure that content is delivered in a timely manner and to project specifications.

About You

  • A degree in a relevant field or proven comparable experience.
  • Knowledge of ELT pedagogy theory and practice, including a CELTA/TESOL qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong editorial project planning and management skills with experience of a wide range of ELT products and workflows.
  • Experience of briefing and managing freelancers, and supervising in-house editorial work.
  • Hands-on content and copy-editing experience of both print and digital products.
  • Success in working to tight timescales and delivering to specification and budget.

  • Strong communicator and active listener with very strong written and speaking skills, particularly in managing the work of authors/writers and freelancers.
  • Personable and flexible, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of an international team.
  • Responsive and analytical thinker with the ability to both plan long-term and adapt to changing circumstances and setbacks through creative problem-solving.

Interview Process

The closing date for all applications will be 15th April 2026. We will review applications on an ongoing basis, and shortlisted candidates can expect interviews to take place on the week commencing 4th May 2026.

First-stage virtual interview via MS Teams. Some interview questions may be shared with you in advance. Role-related task presentation, provided to shortlisted candidates ahead of time. Potential second interview may be scheduled if further assessment of shortlisted candidates is needed.
