Salary: £23,132 per annum full time equivalent (pro‑rated for your 8‑week internship)

Location: Cambridge/Hybrid (2‑3 days per week in the office minimum)

Contract: Full time (35 hours per week) / Fixed Term (8 weeks)

Placement dates: 13th July 2026 – 4th September 2026

We are looking for a research intern with an interest in language and equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a project that explores the use of gender‑inclusive language across different contexts.

• Review literature and trends in relation to gender‑inclusive language
• Support with study administration (e.g. consent forms and participant recruitment)
• Support with data collection
• Assist with data analysis and/or interpretation
• Share project updates and findings
• Contribute to writing up the research

We will prefer candidates who are graduates or students studying towards an undergraduate qualification in MFLs, English Literature and/or Language, Education, Psychology, or another Social Science.

You will have experience or a keen interest in research in education and equality, diversity and inclusion, particularly issues relating to gender and/or language.

To be successful in this role, the following skills, values and behaviours are desirable:

• Team player who can deliver tasks on time
• Ability to analyse and interpret different types of information
• Some awareness of current discussions around gender and language, or an interest in learning about this area
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• The ability to review academic literature
• Interest in contributing to the design and delivery of research projects
• A good command of a language other than English would be an asset, but it is not essential

• 18th – 29th May: You can expect an update on your interview, if you’re successful you will receive a placement offer. We will ask for acceptance responses by 29th May.
• 13th July: Programme starts.
• 4th September: Programme finishes.

Spend per day:

• 2 days: £5 to £10
• 3 days: £15 to £80‑120
• 5 days: £10 to £20
• 8 days: £30 to £160‑240
