Qualifications
- Registered Midwife
- Evidence of professional continuous development and portfolio of learning
- Degree in Midwifery or equivalent
- Masters degree or working towards
Experience
- Ability to demonstrate an expert working knowledge of midwifery in all areas of the maternity service
- Evidence of relevant clinical updating
- Evidence of leadership
- Experience of academic report writing / ability to interpret and apply evidence
- Involvement with clinical audit
- Use of computerised information system
- Involvement with research
- Participation and contribution to local Regional/National maternity forums
- Experience in engaging with service users and interpreting feedback into service improvements
- Experience of implementation of nationally mandated initiatives into local practice
- Experience of using data to inform clinical effectiveness based decisions
Knowledge
- Aware of current research and its impact on evidence based care
- Conversant with NMC rules governing practice
- Demonstrate awareness and working knowledge of clinical governance
- Knowledge of current reports/guidelines relating to Maternity Care and their implication
- Knowledge of CQC in relation to maternity services
