The University Library is looking to appoint a Facilities Management Assistant (Driver) to join our Facilities Team. The team provides a wide range of facilities management services to the University Library and a network of affiliated libraries across Cambridge. This role will be the team\’s primary driver, playing a key part in supporting daily operations. When you are not driving, you are still a key part of the FM maintenance team, getting stuck in with office moves, internal mail deliveries, room set ups, minor maintenance, security cover, and picking up tasks as allocated to you via the FM Supervisor and FM Helpdesk Allocators.

About The Role

This is a varied, hands-on role that requires flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach. While the main responsibility is driving, making collections and deliveries using University Library vans in Cambridge and occasionally beyond, the role also includes:

  • Carrying out basic maintenance tasks
  • Spot cleaning and waste handling
  • Escorting contractors and visitors on site
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Completing tasks assigned via the Facilities Helpdesk

You will often work independently, so a high level of reliability and the ability to manage your time effectively are essential.
