Cambridge Regional College is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Transitions & Engagement Coordinator to join our Student Services team.

You will join us on a full time (37 hours), full year basis, and in return you will receive a competitive salary of between £34,144 - £36,157 per annum plus staff benefits

The primary purpose of this job role is to:

Coordinate and deliver targeted support for vulnerable and under-represented learners, including Young Adult Carers, ensuring they successfully transition into, engage with and progress through college. Collaborate with schools, curriculum and external agencies to identify and remove barriers to participation and implement effective support strategies. Identify applicants who may be at risk of becoming Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), targeting interventions to support effective transition into the college.

What we are looking for in our role:

Enthusiasm and energy are key to this role. We seek an individual with a “get up and go” approach.

  • Recent and extensive demonstrable experience of working with young people and adults from a variety of age ranges within an FE setting or other institution (education, healthcare, social services). To include vulnerable young people adults, asylum seekers or ESOL learners, those with EHCP’s and special education needs, with positive outcomes
  • Knowledge and experience of working with relevant external support organisations
  • Empathy, emotional intelligence and good interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the barriers faced by vulnerable learners
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent motivating, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to use own initiative
  • Good understanding of safeguarding issues which young people face
  • A high degree of motivation and drive
  • Patience, non-judgemental and culturally sensitive
  • Innovation and be able to ‘think outside the box’

  • GCSE English and Maths Grade 4/c or above, or equivalent
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people and adults including ESOL learners
