Seeking an exciting and rewarding new job? Come and work for us at Cambridge Regional College as a Pastoral Support Advisor, where you will make a meaningful impact on the lives of our EHCP and High Needs learners as they prepare to enter the workplace or go on to Higher Education.

You will join us on a full time (37 hours), term time only basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of between £27,032 - £28,813 per annum, equivalent to a full year salary of £31,110 - £33,160 per annum, plus staff benefits.

About the role

You would be supporting EHCP and High Needs students, empowering them so that they can fully access the curriculum and successfully achieve their programme of study. Many of the students you will work with will have complex needs.

Initially you will be working in our Creative Industries department, where you will:

  • Provide a daily 1:1 drop‑in service and group lunch club
  • Provide responsive emotional crisis intervention
  • Provide a safe, supported and structured alternative space during unstructured times.
  • Manage a case load of students, prioritising cases where necessary, and to provide appropriate advice, guidance, information, support and mentoring.

What we are looking for in our role

  • The successful applicant will have:
  • Recent and demonstrable experience of working with people with special education needs in a wellbeing capacity.
  • Recent and demonstrable experience of working with young people and adults from a variety of age ranges within an FE setting or other institution (education, healthcare, social services)
  • Empathy, emotional intelligence and good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent motivating, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to use own initiative
  • Experience of working with others from across an organisational setting
  • Good understanding of safeguarding issues young people face
  • A high degree of motivation and drive
  • Patience and a willingness to be non‑judgmental
  • Innovation and be able to think outside the box
