Cambridge Regional College have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Mentor – Health & Personal Care to join our Supported Learning team at our Cambridge Campus.

You will join us on a full time (37 hours), term time basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £21,355 per annum, equivalent to a full year salary of £24,577 per annum, plus staff benefits.

As part of the role, you will:

  • Support students with a range of learning difficulties and other disabilities.
  • Enable reasonable adjustments to help students to engage.
  • Mentor students and encourage them to remain on task.
  • Model skills so that the student can understand the tasks.
  • Assist with Personal Care and health needs.
  • Promote our college values.

What we are looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • GCSE English grade C / 4 or equivalent – or willing to work towards gaining this qualification
  • Happy to undergo relevant training
  • Enjoy working across college faculties i.e. supporting students on a variety of courses
  • Have recent and demonstrable experience of working with people with special education needs (desirable, but not essential)
  • A positive can do’ attitude, sensitive to others needs, patient and reliable
  • A team player yet also able to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

These TA opportunities would either suit someone looking for a new, more flexible role within learning support where they are only working term-time and/or someone keen to transfer existing skills, such as from the care sector, and build a career in supported learning. Full training and support provided for our Teaching Assistant roles.
