Cambridge Regional College is currently looking for a dynamic teacher to work across our Access to HE team based in Cambridge. You will join us on a part time (10 hours), full year basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of between £8,016 - £11,800 per annum, equivalent to a full-time salary of £29,662 - £43,662 per annum, plus staff benefits.

Access to HE courses are designed to help people back into education after a break, and to support their application into higher education. Our courses are validated through CAVA. We are a large and inspirational centre of learning with Campuses in Cambridge and Huntingdon. About the role: You will be responsible for the delivery of the Chemistry units within our Access to HE (Science) programme. Students typically study Chemistry, Maths, Study Skills and a research project alongside either Biology or Physics, to progress to a range of university degree courses.

  • Organic Chemistry
  • Physical Chemistry

Tutorial role for one group: 2 hours per week – 1 hour group tutorial and 1 hour one to one. You will need to prepare all lessons and keep the college's Moodle pages (VLE) / MS Teams up to date to support learning. As part of the role, you will also be required to assess work electronically (through MS Teams), internally moderate students' work and participate in External verifier meetings. You will need to follow Quality Assurance processes both within the college and as part of the awarding body's requirements.

What we are looking for in our role: Educated to degree level in Chemistry and with a teacher trainer qualification, you are an inspirational teacher who makes full use of active learning strategies. You have an excellent awareness of health and safety within a practical setting and can confidently plan and supervise appropriate practicals as part of your teaching strategy. You have the ability to support the development of transferable study skills in preparation for either HE or employment. You will need to discuss student issues with other team members and work collaboratively to ensure excellent retention and success. You will have a willingness to share good practice and collaborate with Access to HE teams with a good sense of humour and enthusiasm to enhance the student experience. To ensure excellent recruitment onto the pathways, you will also participate in relevant Interview (Welcome) events, Open Days and taster days with other team members.
