About the College

Cambridge Muslim College advances knowledge, learning and research rooted in the Islamic tradition. As the College continues to grow academically, institutionally and in its public reach, we are seeking a Development Manager to lead our fundraising and donor engagement activity. The role is central to the College’s long-term sustainability, with responsibility for securing philanthropic income, building durable donor relationships, and supporting the financial foundations of the College’s teaching, research and public work.

Reporting to the Registrar and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, the Development Manager will take ownership of the College’s development function, with responsibility for delivering agreed fundraising targets. You will lead fundraising activity across individual giving, donor stewardship, campaigns, and related income-generating activity.

Communications activity sits within the Development function and exists to support fundraising and engagement objectives. You will line manage the Communications function, setting direction and priorities, while retaining overall responsibility for how the College presents itself to donors, supporters, and external audiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Development and fundraising
    • Lead the delivery of the College’s fundraising and donor engagement strategy.
    • Cultivate, steward, and grow relationships with donors and partners.
    • Develop cases for support, donor proposals, and stewardship reporting.
    • Manage fundraising campaigns and appeals.
    • Build and maintain a donor pipeline and reporting.
    • Oversee the donor database and compliance.
    • Report to SLT on fundraising performance.
  • Communications and engagement
    • Line manage the Communications function.
    • Set communications priorities aligned to institutional goals.
    • Oversee public-facing communications and digital channels.
    • Ensure content supports fundraising and engagement.

About you

You will be an experienced development professional with a track record in fundraising and donor engagement, confident leading income generation and managing staff, with strong judgement and written communication skills.
