As MEP Engineer, you will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and optimisation of all mechanical, electrical, and public health systems across Cambridge House. You will bring a calm, professional, and solutions-focused approach, working closely with colleagues across Engineering and Operations to maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and presentation. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the pre‑opening phase, working closely with project teams, contractors, and consultants to oversee commissioning, testing, and handover of all MEP installations, ensuring systems are fully operational, compliant, and ready to support a seamless opening.
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, and performance of all mechanical, electrical, and public health systems throughout Cambridge House, ensuring the building operates reliably, efficiently, and to the highest standards expected of a luxury hotel.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, taking a proactive approach to identifying issues and ensuring all equipment and services operate safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory and brand requirements.
  • Monitor building management systems (BMS) and energy usage, reviewing performance trends and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and reliability while maintaining guest comfort and operational excellence.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to engineering issues, prioritising guest‑facing areas and critical infrastructure, while minimising disruption to guests and daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records, logs, and certification relating to compliance, inspections, testing, and maintenance activities, ensuring documentation is complete, accessible, and audit‑ready at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to support the smooth running of guest rooms, public spaces, back‑of‑house areas, and essential services, providing technical guidance and practical support where needed.
  • Liaise with approved contractors and suppliers, coordinating works, supervising standards, and ensuring all activity is completed safely, on time, and in line with the quality expectations of Cambridge House.
  • Support health and safety compliance across all engineering activities, following established procedures and contributing to a safe, well‑maintained working environment for guests and team members alike.
  • Contribute positively to the culture of Cambridge House, working respectfully with team members, sharing knowledge, and taking pride in the condition, presentation, and performance of the building and its systems.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an MEP engineering role, ideally within a luxury hotel.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and public health systems, with a methodical and safety‑conscious approach.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications or trade certifications.
  • A practical, hands‑on mindset combined with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a pre‑opening environment, with the flexibility and attention to detail this requires.
