Department Description

The Food Services department at Cambridge Health Alliance is committed to nourishing our patients, staff, and visitors with delicious, healthy, and high-quality meals. Our team prepares and serves a variety of fresh, nutritious food designed to meet diverse dietary needs and support patient recovery and wellness. We adhere to the highest standards of food safety and sanitation to ensure every meal contributes to a positive and healing experience. Our Food Service team members enhance the patient stay by delivering three quality meals per day to patients’ bedside. Our Expressly for You program assigns each patient a dedicated Food Service member to take care of their dining needs. Our Team members promote meal assistance to all patients on a daily basis (including meal selection, service and retrieval). Team members serve food and beverages to patients in accordance with the patient’s diet prescription. Team members verbally communicate our patients’ concerns with the clinical dietitian.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting patients with making appropriate daily menu selections
  • Preparing, assembling and delivering of patients’ meal trays and snacks
  • Calculating and modifying diets/fluid restrictions and calories
  • Stocking of the pantries on the nursing units with patient food
  • Performing various kitchen duties including sanitation and set-up and completing temperature logs
  • Utilization of an automated tablet to record and transfer meal selections to the main computer

Qualifications

  • Technical, trade or vocational degree in related fields, or 2 years of functional experience
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills and ability to convey information that may be complex to those who may have limited knowledge in the subject matter
  • Requires full use and application of basic diet information
