The main purpose of the Operating Room Nurse is to provide quality patient care in accordance with Cambridge Health Alliance and the Association of Peri‑operative Registered Nurses standards of nursing practice. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care in a professional manner. The Operating Room nurse demonstrates competency in both scrub and circulator functions, understands the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of nursing service, and leads clinical practice with personal commitment, accountability, and initiative. RN graduates of an accredited nursing school are expected to advance patient health goals and support the bedside needs of surgical patients in a fast‑moving peri‑operative setting.
Qualifications/Experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school (current)
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing
- American Heart Association/American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Completion of Periop 101 during CHA orientation (CNOR preferred)
- Minimum two (2) years of current Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including both circulating and scrub roles
- On‑call obligations required for nights, weekends, and holidays
