Our client, a leading strategy consultancy is seeking a Manager to join and play a leading role, focusing on deal strategy within the media industry as a part of the wider TMT sector, with scope to work on the wider range of services including growth strategy, cost and operational strategy (including economic profitability analysis) and enterprise-wide transformation. You will be the second hire of a newly established team that has plans to grow to fifteen staff in the next 2-3 years, and you will play an instrumental part in helping to shape the growth of this team. The hiring partner has a family and stressed to agencies that a good work life balance would be accommodated, despite this being a deals environment. He really does want to hire good people who want to be part of a journey and help create the story of this team.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a credible client liaison on firm engagements, often taking a “specialist” role with a view to develop long term client relationships; act as an 'ambassador' for the firm.
  • Design and run small- to mid-sized projects and/or larger more complex workstreams – extensive experience of deal-related projects will be critical, eg Commercial DD, M also guide junior team members to reach right-first-time output.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to junior team members – on and outside of projects – ensuring that they learn on the job and progress in their careers.
  • Provide timely feedback and coaching to other team members.
  • Take pro-active role in thought leadership and knowledge management activities.
  • Support the practice by proactively getting involved in internal practice matters and business development initiatives, and taking responsibilities for these moving forward.

Your experience:

  • More than 4 years’ experience working in a leading strategy consulting business, Big 4 firm or strategy/corporate development team in industry.
  • Media experience would be preferable, however the partner is happy to meet with candidates with any sector coverage.
  • Experience of leading workstreams and/or smaller projects: designing work plans, team structures and managing these to excellent client output and, where relevant, strong financial returns.
