Please note this is a fixed term post to 30/04/2027. Reporting to the PMO Manager, the PMO Officer will play an important role in supporting the development, review, monitoring and reporting of Projects and Programmes, contributing to effective management and governance across the entire portfolio of programmes and projects in the Change and Delivery Service in line with the Council's Project Management Framework.
The purpose of the PMO Officer is to support/ensure programme and projects achieve benefits and value. They will do this through coordinating, planning, controlling, reporting and analysing activity to support decision makers and ensure that the strategic objectives are achieved. The PMO Officer will help provide insight, information and support which strengthens project governance and enables prioritisation decisions and effective allocation of resources. The PMO Officer will help ensure that programmes and projects are being implemented in the right way so that they are more likely to realise their anticipated benefits.
About you
- Ability to interpret and explain complex issues to a wide range of audiences, presenting complex data sets in a clear and meaningful way and skilled at writing and supporting the preparation of papers such as committee papers.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with ability to self‑direct and work under own initiative.
- Ability to approach problem solving in an adaptable and insightful way to provide innovative and beneficial solutions.
- Excellent set of interpersonal and communication skills – able to communicate with and influence a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to negotiate with key partners and businesses to build collaborative solutions that recognise the diverse needs of communities; confidence to follow up on actions, chase submissions, etc.
- Ability to build support for new, and sometimes unpopular, ideas and processes.
- Ability to be proactive and take a systematic approach in the organisation of work.
