About the Learning & Development Team
This role is part of the Council's Learning and Development Service and you'll be joining a friendly and welcoming team of 5 who work with a wider group of around 50 colleagues, who are all passionate and driven to support colleagues to professionally develop, grow and to reach their full potential. We are looking for a full time Business Support Assistant to provide excellent customer service and efficient administrative support to our learning offer. We support the learning and development of thousands of Council colleagues; we manage this through our Learning Management System (LMS) which hosts e‑Learning modules and a booking system for in person and virtual training. Alongside this, we support colleagues to complete Apprenticeships and work‑based qualifications. We are passionate about delivering excellence and strive to ensure every interaction colleagues have with us is supportive, welcoming, and empowering, and you will have a key role in supporting us with this.
You will have the opportunity to work flexibly from both home and our main office in Huntingdon or other council locations across the county. We support flexible working requests and would welcome applications from candidates who would like to explore a work pattern that works well for them.

What will you be doing?
You will be working closely with a variety of learning facilitators across the team, the council, and some external providers. You will also be in contact with learners who are wishing to access our learning offer. You will be part of a wider business support team of 5 other colleagues supporting similar activity. Tasks relating to this post can include:
- Supporting customers via email or phone with their queries, seeking advice and input from others as needed.
- Processing payments to suppliers and raising invoices to charge customers.
- Using the Learning Management System to advertise a wide variety of courses and all associated tasks to support the delivery of each course such as: adding courses and training dates, monitoring course numbers, updating attendance, supporting technical queries, cancelling places, liaising with trainers.
- Sourcing and booking meeting rooms for training delivery.
- Enabling access to our social care resource library by maintaining accurate records of stock, fulfilling resource requests and arranging for resources to be collected by colleagues.
About you
You should have good administration skills, the ability to prioritise your workload, show attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication skills will also be required as you will be liaising with a variety of people across the organisation as well as colleagues from the private, voluntary and independent sector. You will be expected to work on your own initiative, keep calm under pressure and work to deadlines. You should have a methodical, concise and flexible approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively. You will need a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft packages (Teams, SharePoint, Word and Excel) and be able to use databases where full training will be given. Don't worry if you can't yet fully demonstrate the essential criteria - a willingness to learn and develop is just as important and full training and support will be given.
