Larksfield Supported Living is based in the town of Wisbech and supports adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability. We aim to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles as close to those enjoyed by other members of the community. We support and empower adults with a learning disability, or Older People, to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home.
The role will include promoting life skills development, and providing planned activities. You will need to have commitment and enthusiasm towards working with people with a disability.

What will you be doing?
You will report to the Registered Manager to ensure the service is working towards its vision in line with Care Quality Commission regulations. You will ensure that information within the service is accurate and up to date and reviewed to meet requirements. This may include care plans, medication management and recording, risk assessments, safeguarding and accident and incident reports. You will also undertake audits and quality assurance checks. You will be required to attend meetings with professionals. You will be expected to work within Mental Capacity legislation and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and have the ability to apply relevant legislation within your area of responsibility.
As a Senior Support Worker you will have experience of working with people with disabilities, able to take responsibility for more complex health issues and medication and be able to provide support and advice with daily living in their local community. You will manage a team of staff providing them with support and guidance individually and as a group to deliver excellent care and support. You will manage staff resources to ensure the service has adequate staff cover to agreed levels, including completing supervisions and overseeing staff development. You will be completing a comprehensive training program and benefit from excellent career development opportunities as well as being part of a supportive team committed to delivering an excellent service for adults with disabilities.
The post requires you to work various shifts during the week (between 7am-11pm), sleep-ins, and bank holidays and to work one weekend in four for which enhancements are paid.
About you:
As a Senior Support Worker, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as having proficient IT skills. Experience of working with vulnerable people at work or home will be helpful; however, more importantly, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to think creatively. You will also have a sensitive and professional approach, showing understanding of confidentiality in and outside the service. You will be able to demonstrate commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion principles and anti-discriminatory practice. A good understanding of equal opportunities, person-centred approach and diversity are all essential. Sometimes you will be lone working but will also work as part of the team in group activities. You will have a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording and will hold a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or related subject.
