If you're motivated, caring and ready for a role where no two days are the same, Community Outreach could be for you. The Outreach Support Worker role sits within a countywide community outreach service delivering person-centred support to adults. While the service operates across the whole county, we are currently recruiting in the Cambridge City, Huntingdon and St Ives areas to strengthen local provision.
Our team provides one-to-one support to individuals in their own homes and communities, helping people to build and maintain their independence, stay connected and achieve their personal goals. We support individuals with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism and mental health challenges. This role plays a vital part in enabling people to live well. By building positive, trusting relationships and delivering strengths-based, outcome-focused support, you will help individuals improve their confidence, develop life skills and remain active within their communities.

ResponsibilitiesThis is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will deliver one-to-one outreach support to individuals in their homes and local communities, typically visiting several people each day based on their individual needs. Day-to-day, you will:
- Support individuals to access community groups, services and activities
- Help build confidence using public transport and navigating their local area
- Support the development of daily living skills such as cooking, shopping and managing finances
- Assist individuals to attend appointments and maintain routines
- Encourage people to explore education, volunteering or employment opportunities
- Provide emotional support, building positive and trusting relationships
- Deliver support that is person-centred, strengths-based and outcome-focused
All support is tailored to the individual, with a strong focus on building confidence, independence and community connections. You will be part of a supportive team and report to the Outreach Coordinators, contributing to shared learning and consistent service delivery. The role requires strong communication, collaboration, accurate record-keeping and IT skills to ensure high-quality support. The role involves travel across Cambridgeshire, and so you will need access to a car, and have a full driving licence with business insurance. As this role is part time, it does not meet the salary requirements for us to be able to offer sponsorship.

You will have a positive, proactive attitude and a genuine desire to support others to achieve their goals, be able to build trusting relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. You will be adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work independently across different locations and respond to changing needs. You will also have organisational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively when visiting multiple individuals each day. While previous experience in a care or support setting can be beneficial, it is not essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills from other roles who are passionate about supporting people to develop confidence, independence and life skills.
