We are looking to recruit to an expanding team to help the Council harness the potential of data, using evidence and best practice to support and inform the development of policy, strategy, plans and budgets, and in turn deliver the Corporate Strategy for Cambridgeshire County Council. The Council has a number of major change projects underway, delivering improvements to service delivery across our education and children's social care functions.

Working alongside team colleagues and service leads, the post holder will lead on the extraction, transformation and analysis of relevant datasets to help services monitor the impact of these change projects. We are seeking candidates with proven technical knowledge and intellectual curiosity to confidently explore complex datasets and can demonstrate a solution-focused approach to problem solving.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • The development of Power Bi dashboards
  • The provision of robust, timely and accurate analysis using locally gathered and nationally available management, performance and benchmarking datasets

The Analyst role is pivotal in providing senior leaders with insight including forecasting and the impact of policy to support effective decision-making, often at short notice. Therefore, the ability to synthesise datasets, problem solve and generate insight which is otherwise unavailable whilst working under pressure to meet tight deadlines is crucial to this position.

The post holder will need to be confident in presenting approaches and analysis to a non-technical audience. There will be a need for this post holder to be able to interpret requirements, plan the best approach to synthesis and analyse data, before then producing the results in an appropriate reporting style which thinks strategically about the purpose, audience and how the insight produced can best be used.

With budgets of millions of pounds that impact on thousands of vulnerable people every year, services rely upon the analysis, information and advice provided by our team to make informed decisions - so you'll really have a chance to make a difference.

The roles sit within Cambridgeshire County Council's newly formed Policy, Performance & Intelligence Service. A team of 50 individuals who provide data, analysis, insight and policy expertise to support the operational management and strategic planning of services.

We are a family-friendly employer and will be happy to negotiate on working arrangements to achieve a good work/life balance. Both roles are available on a fixed-term basis with the option of flexibility on working hours.

Our benefits include:

  • A comprehensive wellbeing package to cover all aspects of wellbeing, both in and out of work, which can also be accessed by your family
  • Buy up to 4 weeks additional annual leave (pro-rata) through our salary sacrifice scheme
