We are looking to appoint 2 full time Business Officer's (1 permanent and 1 fixed term post until 31/03/2027) to provide essential administrative and operational support to the Passenger Transport Team. We work closely with transport providers and families to ensure the Home to School Transport services are safe, reliable and meet the needs of those who are eligible. The role will be based at New Shire Hall, Emery Crescent, Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, PE28 4YE with hybrid/flexible working arrangements.
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 17 June 2026 at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald, and will include a workload prioritisation task. Shortlisted candidates will be notified before the 10 June 2026. You will be considered for both roles unless you specify otherwise. What will you be doing?
The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Windows & Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel and Outlook). The role will require:
- A customer service approach across the whole team is paramount as you'll respond to queries from internal colleagues and external customers via phone and email.
- Coordinating and organising all administrative tasks, carry out daily activities as directed by the service.
- Adhere to business processes to achieve a quality and consistent service which may include tasks around eligibility, contracts and service delivery.
- Maintaining accurate records by using inhouse data systems to update information as required.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need to be self‑motivated, organised and flexible, with the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise and forward plan. You will have excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to represent the service in a positive and professional manner, including communicating with a wide range of internal and external customers. You must be reliable, have a polite manner and a friendly approach to help you get on with people at all levels. You will need to be a good team worker but also be able to work on your own initiative when required and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
