We have a full-time vacancy in our City and South team based in Trumpington. We are looking for exceptional Social Workers to join us on our journey. I get to work on cases that I have an interest in, there is lots of consideration about the type of work you want to do.

There is a really nice culture, the team is very supportive and there is a lot of willingness to help each other. The Managers are responsive to development needs. In the last year I have undertaken my Best Interest Assessor qualification and have been supported in my journey to become a Senior Social Worker. This is what our Social Workers said when we asked them about working in our Community Teams. Join a team that is passionate about supporting you to become the Social Worker you want to be. If this sounds like a team in which you would thrive, apply today! We’ve embraced new ways of working so our social work teams have the chance to be part of a collaborative team environment with strong working relationships with health professionals and partners to achieve better outcomes for the adults we support.

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Claire Law on Claire.Law@ cambridgeshire.gov.uk or 01223 699 892. Interviews are planned for the first week of December. We know that your time is precious, so our interviews are held virtually, by Microsoft Teams, to provide the most flexible recruitment process. We may include a virtual assessment as part of this, but we’ll give you all of the relevant information ahead of time.

For an informal discussion about our vacancies, contact Beth on 01480 372 425 or e-mail welovesocialworkers@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

Please note that as part of the Council’s ongoing Asset Review, the Fawcett House office base may change during 2026. Teams currently located at Fawcett House may be relocated to an alternative site within the County, which in most cases will be in close proximity to the current location.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be liaising with other departments, undertaking Social Care and Mental Capacity Act assessments, completing Safeguarding as well as care and support planning, to achieve better outcomes for the adults we support. You’ll need to be inquisitive and provide evidence based, proportionate recording with a keen focus on strength-based practice.

We’ll give you the scope to take your own decisions based on your professional judgement and provide ongoing support and challenge to encourage your development.

Our Community Teams are currently working to a hybrid model, with part-remote and flexible options available in line with our service needs. This includes 9 day fortnights and staggered start and finish times. Once fully trained, our Social Workers will work from the office up to three days each week.
