We are looking for an experienced and analytically minded fluidics engineer to join our team. Working predominantly across healthcare projects, you will apply your engineering skills across all stages of the development life cycle. The projects you will work on will create exciting cutting-edge technology in areas such as diagnostics, drug delivery, surgical and acute care, synthetic biology and digital health. You will take responsibility for design and technical problems, participating in research, concept generation, design and testing.

We are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our clients and the novel projects that come our way. As a result, your role will lead you to evolve and adapt to industry shifts, connecting insights from diverse fields in new, inventive ways. You’ll take these concepts and ideas to deliver break-through projects.

You will work within a team of highly talented, multi-disciplinary engineers on major development projects, applying your practical and analytical abilities to realise novel medical technologies for our clients around the globe. Fluidic technologies are at the core of many of the products we develop in Healthcare. As a Fluidics Engineer, you’ll use analytical modelling to help concept and de-risk approaches early in the development process. As projects progress, you’ll build upon those models to inform design decisions, and will design, build and test prototypes to validate working principles.

‘Typical’ activities you may undertake include:

  • Modelling of fluidic problems using hand calculations and computational models (e.g., in MATLAB)
  • Optimisation of fluidic systems to meet performance goals
  • Designing and building of test rigs and formulating experimental methods to validate theoretical work
  • Interpreting analytical findings and experimentally obtained evidence
  • Preparing technical reports and producing high-quality documentation
  • Presenting work both internally and to clients

You’ll take responsibility for workstreams and grow to leading entire projects. The majority of the time you’ll be focused on delivering world class mechanical engineering for our multi-national clients, understanding their needs and communicating clearly and effectively. The variety of projects means you’ll consistently face new challenges, providing opportunities to grow and diversify your skills.

About you: We’re looking for a fluidics engineer with a track record in delivering fluidics-based projects who carries genuine enthusiasm and excitement for engineering and technology. You should thrive in a collaborative environment, celebrating team success, and be eager to learn new tools, techniques and perspectives. You’ll have:

  • An undergraduate degree in engineering or physics, followed by industry experience or a relevant PhD.
  • An ability to model fluidic problems to evaluate possible solutions using hand calculations and engineering tools such as MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience validating fluidic models using experimental methods and interpreting results

You may also have knowledge of specific technical areas such as microfluidics, sprays, aerosols, and/or thermodynamics. You may also have hands-on experience with CFD software.
