We're looking for Electronics graduates who want to work on real product developments across a range of industries and technologies. You'll need to be willing to face a challenge and work with a range of different technologies across a variety of tasks. In return we can offer the chance to tackle some of the hardest engineering problems around.
Cambridge Consultants undertakes over 300 technology, design and consulting projects every year. You will have the opportunity to work across the broad range of markets, from Consumer Devices to Industrial Systems, Aerospace and Telecoms. We mentor our graduates to develop their skills and take on increasing responsibility. We're much more interested in the engineer you can become than the one you are now, and we provide structured mentoring and hands-on support to help you grow into a confident technologist.
We need people who are enthusiastic about learning, keen to pick up new skills, and can show evidence of a rigorous approach to solving real-world problems. An ability to learn and a determination to grow are more important than the knowledge you already have.
Your responsibilities:
- With lots of support and guidance from your peers, you will work as part of our technical team on client assignments in multi-disciplinary projects for a wide range of markets.
- You may work on one or more projects at a time, in a variety of different disciplines and roles.
- You will have the chance to interact directly with clients at all phases of projects, from requirements capture and progress updates through delivery to final handover.
- You will collaborate closely with software, RF, signal processing, mechanical and AI engineers.
What you'll be doing:
Cambridge Consultants works on a wide range of product and system developments for a broad range of clients. We'll give you the time and support needed to learn how to apply your skills to client projects and create a solid reputation for yourself as a reliable, safe pair of hands for day-to-day electronic design across a mix of project teams.
Your tasks may include:
- Design and implement systems for a variety of applications and products.
- Develop analogue and digital hardware, PCB layouts, and FPGA designs (Verilog/VHDL).
- Hands-on testing and debugging in the lab.
- Opportunities to gain experience in embedded software (C/C++) and system-level design.
Recent projects include:
- Collaborating with LEGO® SMART Play™
- Developing bespoke communication systems for robotics platforms.
- Prototyping large airborne antennas for global 5G coverage.
- Creating secure satellite communication systems.
- Connecting the unconnected with affordable Digital Radio Mondiale technology.
What you can bring:
- An excellent degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, or a related subject.
- Solid understanding of fundamental electronic theory and principles.
- Practical experience through university, work, or personal projects in one or more of the following:
- Analogue electronics (interfaces, RF, power)
- Digital electronics (processors, DSP, Verilog/VHDL)
- PCB design
- Enthusiasm for designing things and making them work.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
