Overview

Cambridge City Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join our dynamic finance team. This is a pivotal role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, where your expertise will directly contribute to the financial health and strategic direction of the Council.

About the Role

As Senior Finance Officer, you will:

  • Ensure correct coding of income and expenditure, processing journals in the general ledger
  • Import and export financial data into and from the relevant business systems
  • Prepare income summaries to facilitate recording of income in the general ledger, importing and allocating cash, and reconciling takings
  • Reconcile Financial Management System / bank / business systems
  • Line manage Finance Officer posts, including managing the day-to-day allocation of workload

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience of cash posting, allocation, reconciliation and query resolution in a large and complex organisation
  • Strong skills in using computerised Financial Management Systems and other ICT systems including Excel
  • Confidence in communicating with a range of audiences
  • Good accounting knowledge and financial skills
  • The ability to inspire trust, confidence, respect and credibility from a range of people

A basic DBS Check is required for this role. It is also politically restricted.

Hours, Pattern, and Location

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week. Although the role is advertised as full time, we are open to discussing different working patterns.

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £32,597 - £36,363 per annum (City Pay Band 4), pro rata for part time.

Location: Flexible – working in Cambridge at an office or working from home. You will be able to balance your work location accordingly.
