Are you passionate about working with communities and helping residents have a real voice in local decision‑making? We are looking for a Resident Engagement Assistant to play a key role in supporting tenants and leaseholders to actively participate in shaping their neighbourhoods and council services.
About the Role
As a Resident Engagement Assistant, you will support the promotion and delivery of opportunities for residents to get involved in local decision making. You will work closely with council teams and community members to build trust, strengthen relationships, and ensure resident voices are heard and valued. You will lead and support meaningful, place‑based engagement activity – such as estate walkabouts, volunteering initiatives and community days – and help join up engagement activity across the Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and deliver resident participation opportunities for tenants and leaseholders
- Build strong relationships with residents, community groups and council services
- Lead and support place‑based engagement activities, including estate walkabouts and community events
- Coordinate and communicate engagement opportunities using a range of online and printed methods
- Gather and develop content for social media, webpages and printed publications
- Actively work to increase engagement from under‑represented tenants and leaseholders, seeking out and involving those who may not currently participate
You will bring:
- Strong people and communication skills
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships with diverse communities
- Experience or interest in community engagement, participation or volunteering
- Confidence using digital and printed communication channels
- A proactive approach to reaching under‑represented groups and removing barriers to involvement
The post holder will have the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship in community engagement, gaining practical experience whilst receiving formal training on consultation, support, and collaboration with communities. The suitable candidate will require a Full UK Driving License.
