We are seeking a proactive and organised Economy and Climate Support Officer to join our Inclusive Economy and Climate team. This is a vital role designed to champion and support the delivery of net-zero goals alongside sustainable and inclusive economic development within Cambridge. Working within the Economy and Place group, you will provide essential project co-ordination and administrative support for the team. You will play a key part in supporting policy and partnership development, as well as managing engagement and communications with both internal and external stakeholders.

In this role you will:

  • Support research and policy development through evidence gathering, analysis, and the drafting of reports and briefings.
  • Manage team data systems, ensuring high accuracy in records, spreadsheets, and CRM systems to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Provide project co-ordination for climate change and inclusive economic development workstreams.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for enquiries, ensuring requests are logged, allocated, and resolved within corporate standards.
  • Support managers with budget management, including raising purchase orders and reconciling monthly procurement card purchases.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to create and publish engaging content across social media, websites, and e-newsletters.
  • Assist in the organisation and delivery of stakeholder events, consultations, and partnership meetings.

About You

We are looking for an organised professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing multiple priorities. You should be a team player with a "can-do" approach and a strong focus on customer service. The successful candidate will bring:

  • Essential experience of partnership working and supporting projects within a busy office environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write accurately for different audiences and respond effectively to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in IT and systems, specifically with spreadsheets, databases, and CRM platforms.
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to gather data and assist in report writing.

  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside core hours to support planned engagement activities.
  • Experience working within local government and previous work in economic development or climate change, and knowledge of the Cambridge economic and social landscape would be highly desirable.
  • The successful candidate will be required to travel around the City and other locations so a Full UK Driving Licence would be desirable.
