We are seeking a proactive and organised Corporate Facilities Officer to oversee and manage the physical environment of the Council, ensuring a safe, efficient and sustainable workplace. The role is responsible for ensuring Council Administration buildings and assigned premises are prepared for use and maintained in a fit and appropriate condition for staff and external organisations. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards across corporate facilities, supporting compliance, and enabling the Council to deliver excellent services to the residents and visitors of Cambridge.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the Council's physical environment to ensure safe, effective and sustainable workplaces.
- Ensure Council administrative buildings and assigned premises are maintained, accessible and fit for purpose.
- Undertake and coordinate maintenance activities as required.
- Implement and maintain facilities management policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Council standards.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, staff, and external organisations.
- Respond to facility-related issues and support efficient building operations.
- Undertake administrative duties aligned with the Customer Support Team, supporting the wider Council to meet its objectives.
- Be a practical and adaptable individual with a strong understanding of facilities management and customer service.

Working Hours & Contract
This is a full-time role for 37 hours per week. Although the role is advertised as full time, if you believe you have the skills and experience to join us and would like to discuss different working patterns, please do get in touch. Working pattern: Two shift patterns on alternate weeks. Week 1 – 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mon-Thurs, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri. Week 2 – Flexible shift to cover evening meetings at The Guildhall. Contract: Permanent. Salary range: £29,540 – £32,061 per annum (City Pay Band 3), pro rata for part time.
