We are seeking a professional and customer‑focused Registered Building Inspector Class 2A-2D who will contribute positively to the delivery and reputation of the 3C building control service. The successful candidate will bring:

The RBI plays a key professional role within the 3C Building Control Service, ensuring the health, safety and welfare of people in and around buildings. This is achieved through the effective implementation and enforcement of the Building Regulations, the Building Act 1984 and associated legislation, while delivering a high‑quality, customer‑focused statutory service.

At Band 7, the role includes supporting less experienced colleagues, contributing to audits, projects and service initiatives, and helping deliver service plan and corporate plan outcomes across partner councils.
Qualifications:
- Degree in building control, building surveying or a related construction discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Full corporate membership of RICS, CABE or CIOB is desirable
- A relevant CSCS Card
Additional information:
- A full UK driving licence is required and the ability to travel across the 3C area
- The role involves regular site inspections, including working at height, in confined spaces and in adverse weather conditions
- The post holder will be required to undertake dynamic risk assessments when carrying out inspections
- Participation in an out‑of‑hours emergency rota is required

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week. Although the role is advertised as full time, if you believe you have the skills and experience to join us and would like to discuss different working patterns, please do get in touch.
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday – You will also be on the Out of hours Dangerous Structures Call out.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £47,181 - £52,413 per annum (City Pay Band 7), pro rata for part time. The successful candidate will also be in receipt of a Golden Hello package of £10K for 2 years.
Location: This is flexible – working in Cambridge on site or at one of our offices or working from home. You will be able to balance your work location accordingly.
