We are seeking a proactive and organised Economy and Climate Support Officer to join our Inclusive Economy and Climate team. This vital role champions net‑zero goals and sustainable inclusive economic development within Cambridge.
Responsibilities
- Support research and policy development through evidence gathering, analysis, and drafting of reports and briefings.
- Manage team data systems, ensuring high accuracy in records, spreadsheets, and CRM systems to inform strategic decision‑making.
- Provide project co‑ordination for climate change and inclusive economic development workstreams.
- Act as the initial point of contact for enquiries, ensuring requests are logged, allocated, and resolved within corporate standards.
- Support managers with budget management, including raising purchase orders and reconciling monthly procurement card purchases.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to create and publish engaging content across social media, websites, and e‑newsletters.
- Assist in the organisation and delivery of stakeholder events, consultations, and partnership meetings.
Qualifications
- Essential experience of partnership working and supporting projects within a busy office environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to write accurately for different audiences and respond effectively to stakeholders.
- Proficiency in IT and systems, specifically with spreadsheets, databases, and CRM platforms.
- Analytical skills, including the ability to gather data and assist in report writing.

- Flexibility to occasionally work outside core hours to support planned engagement activities.
- Experience working within local government and previous work in economic development or climate change, and knowledge of the Cambridge economic and social landscape would be highly desirable.

Working Hours & Contract
- This is a full‑time role, for 37 hours per week.
- The role is advertised as full‑time, but different working patterns can be discussed.
- Location: Mandela House, Cambridge / Agile Hybrid Working. Mainly based in Cambridge onsite, but also possible to work from one of our offices or from home.
