We are seeking a proactive and organised Corporate Facilities Officer to oversee and manage the physical environment of the Council, ensuring a safe, efficient and sustainable workplace. The role is responsible for ensuring Council Administration buildings and assigned premises are prepared for use and maintained in a fit and appropriate condition for staff and external organisations. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards across corporate facilities, supporting compliance, and enabling the Council to deliver excellent services to the residents and visitors of Cambridge.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the Council’s physical environment to ensure safe, effective and sustainable workplaces
- Ensure Council administrative buildings and assigned premises are maintained, accessible, and fit for purpose
- Undertake and coordinate maintenance activities as required
- Implement and maintain facilities management policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Council standards
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, staff, and external organisations
- Respond to facility-related issues and support efficient building operations
- Undertake administrative duties aligned with the Customer Support Team, supporting the wider Council to meet its objectives
You will be a practical and adaptable individual with a strong understanding of facilities management and customer service. Essential skills and attributes include:
- Experience in facilities, building management, or a related operational role
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a workplace environment

Hours: This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week. Working Pattern: Two shift patterns on alternate weeks: Week 1 – 8am-4.30pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-4pm Fri; Week 2 – Flexible shift to cover evening meetings at The Guildhall.
Contract: Permanent Salary: £29,540 - £32,061 per annum (City Pay Band 3), pro rata for part time. Location: Administration Buildings and Operations Hub.
