Firm Overview: Cambridge Associates (“CA”) is a leading global investment firm. CA’s goal is to help endowments & foundations, pension plans, and ultra-high net worth private clients implement and manage custom investment portfolios that generate outperformance so that they can maximize their impact on the world. Cambridge Associates delivers a range of services, including outsourced CIO, non-discretionary portfolio management, and investment consulting. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, CA has offices in key markets in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Our worldwide teams ensure our clients benefit from decades of global presence, local expertise, and relationships with the top global investment managers across the world.

Job Description Summary: The secondary market is a rapidly growing segment of the global private investment universe and has become a widely-used tool by both limited partners and general partners for portfolio management. The CA Secondaries Team is hiring an Investment Analyst/Associate to join this growing practice area within Cambridge Associates. The team manages all aspects of the investment process for fund secondary, GP-led, and direct secondary transactions on behalf of Cambridge Associates’ client base. The Secondaries Team evaluates opportunities on a global basis and across all asset classes within the private investment spectrum, including private equity buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, private credit, and private real assets (real estate, infrastructure, etc.). As a global and cross-functional team, members of the Secondaries Team work closely with the broader Private Investment Research Team to source, evaluate, execute, and monitor secondary investment opportunities. The Secondaries Team is currently comprised of 7 investment professionals across our Boston, San Francisco, and London offices. We are looking for a highly motivated and capable individual to join the Secondaries Team in London. The Investment Analyst/Associate will cultivate a deep understanding of private markets and secondary transactions, and the position will provide the opportunity to grow with the team for a minimum of 3-4 years. The Investment Analyst/Associate program offers in-depth training and ongoing mentorship from senior transaction-oriented investment professionals. Given members of the Secondaries Team must evaluate both private investment fund secondary and direct company transactions, it is preferred that candidates have relevant private investment or transaction experience.

Job Description: The Investment Analyst will serve as an integral member of the CA Secondaries Team supporting all aspects of the practice area, with a primary focus on assisting deal teams in evaluating secondary transactions. This will include:

  • Conducting business and industry due diligence on private investment portfolios, building financial models, and supporting senior deal team members throughout the entire investment processes.
  • Playing an important role in deal screening and deal flow management.
  • Preparing for, and participating in, meetings with private equity fund executives, portfolio company executives, and other senior investment professionals both internal and external to Cambridge Associates.
  • Completing written research and analysis utilized for investment decision making by Cambridge’s clients and the CA Secondaries Investment Committee. This includes concise commentaries summarizing opportunities as well in-depth due diligence reports.

Additionally, the Investment Analyst/Associate will serve as a resource to CA colleagues seeking information on all aspects related to secondary opportunities, and will collaborate with senior professionals to support the team’s engagement with existing and prospective clients. The Analyst/Associate will also contribute to projects and analyses outside of transactions to enable the knowledge and success of the Secondaries Team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a record of achievement (any major; preference for finance, accounting, economics, or related field)
  • Some relevant investment or transaction experience.
  • Strong, demonstrated interest in private equity, including direct investments and/or secondary investments.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and initiative.
  • Self-starter and independent worker.
  • Demonstrated command of written English communication and strong business writing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in conversation with internal and external parties, including senior investment professionals.
  • Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling.
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be eligible to work without restriction in the UK.

All applications must include a resume and cover letter.
