Cambridge Aerospace is seeking an experienced Firearms and Explosives Compliance Manager, to take ownership of firearms and explosives compliance across our Cambridge operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and regulatory compliance of all firearms, weapons, ammunition and explosives records, while acting as a key liaison with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders. You will be responsible for maintaining statutory records, supporting audits and inspections, identifying and resolving compliance issues, and helping the business continuously improve its governance and control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the focal point for compliance with the Firearms Act 1968, Explosives Regulations 2014 and associated licences, approvals and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable records relating to firearms, ammunition, explosives and controlled items.
  • Ensure complete accountability and traceability of all controlled items throughout their lifecycle, including manufacture, storage, transfer and disposal.
  • Manage statutory registers, inventory systems and compliance documentation to the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.
  • Conduct routine audits, reconciliations and compliance reviews to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal investigations and remediation activities relating to record keeping, inventory management and compliance matters.
  • Liaise with police firearms licensing departments, regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders as required.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, stores, ordnance and operational teams to ensure compliance requirements are understood and consistently applied.
  • Support licence applications, renewals, variations and associated regulatory submissions.
  • Develop, maintain and improve compliance procedures, governance frameworks and record management processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on firearms and explosives compliance requirements.
  • Prepare for and support regulatory inspections, audits and assurance activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working within a firearms, explosives, defence, military, law enforcement or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of firearms and explosives licensing, accountability and record-keeping requirements.
  • Experience maintaining statutory firearms and/or explosives records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and record management skills.
  • Good IT literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office 365, databases and electronic record management systems.
  • Ability to identify compliance issues, investigate discrepancies and implement practical corrective actions.
