We are seeking a CNC Machinist specialising in Mill/Turn to plan, set up, and execute high‑precision machining activities across defence and aerospace programmes. This is a hands‑on manufacturing role, focused on the operation and optimisation of modern 5‑axis CNC machining centres to produce complex, tight‑tolerance components for safety‑critical defence and aerospace systems.
Responsibilities
- Set, operate, and optimise 5‑axis CNC milling/turning machines to manufacture complex precision components
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications, including GD&T
- Produce parts to extremely tight tolerances in materials such as titanium, aluminium, stainless steel, and high‑performance alloys
- Ensure all machining activities comply with aerospace and defence quality standards and procedures
- Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous process improvement
- Maintain machine performance through routine checks, maintenance, and good housekeeping
Requirements
- Strong CNC machining experience with a focus on mill/turn
- Experience machining for aerospace, defence, motorsport, or similarly regulated industries
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Solid understanding of tooling, workholding, and cutting strategies
- Experience using precision inspection equipment
- Working knowledge of CNC controls such as Siemens, Fanuc, or Heidenhain
Preferred Experience / Qualifications
- Experience using or working alongside HyperMill
- Experience across prototype, low‑volume, and higher‑volume precision manufacturing
- Knowledge of AS9100 or aerospace quality systems
- Experience in fast‑paced R&D or startup environments
