We are looking for a motivated and reliable Manufacturing Apprentice to join our production team. This apprenticeship provides hands‑on experience across multiple areas of steel manufacturing, including locker assembly, press brake operations, powder coating processes, warehouse duties, packing, sub‑assembly work, and supporting production planning and sales activities. The successful candidate will learn practical engineering and manufacturing skills while working alongside experienced team members in a fast‑paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Steel Fabrication & Assembly
- Assist in the manufacture and assembly of steel lockers and related products.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and assembly specifications.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Prepare steel components for assembly and finishing.
- Press Brake Operations
- Learn to operate and set up press brake machinery under supervision.
- Understand bending techniques and material handling procedures.
- Measure and inspect folded steel parts for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain safe working practices around machinery.
- Powder Coating Processes
- Assist with preparation of metal products prior to powder coating.
- Learn the powder coating process, including cleaning, hanging, coating, and curing.
- Support quality inspections to ensure high finish standards.
- Help maintain cleanliness within the coating area.
- Warehouse & Packing
- Pick, pack, and prepare finished products for dispatch.
- Assist with stock control and movement of materials within the warehouse.
- Safely load and unload materials using appropriate equipment.
- Ensure products are packed securely and accurately.
- Sub‑Assembly Work
- Assemble components and fittings ready for final production stages.
- Conduct basic quality checks on completed assemblies.
- Maintain organised workstations and production areas.
- MRP & Production Planning
- Gain an understanding of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
- Assist with updating production information and stock records.
- Learn how materials, components, and production schedules are managed.
- Support production planning and workflow coordination.
- Sales & Customer Support
- Develop an understanding of the company’s products and manufacturing processes.
- Support the sales team with product information and order updates when required.
- Learn how customer orders move through production and dispatch.
- Assist with communication between production, warehouse, and sales departments.
Skills & Qualities Required

- Good attention to detail and quality.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of tools, machinery, or IT systems is beneficial.

Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English preferred.
- Interest in engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, or production planning.
- Previous workshop or warehouse experience is advantageous but not essential.
