At North Wales Police we have a great opportunity for an Apprentice in our Control Room to provide general administration and support. You will obtain a solid grounding in customer service within North Wales Police and work towards the completion of a NVQ level 2 in Customer Service. The training programme will include general administration within the designated business area within North Wales Police.
Responsibilities
- Provide a quality customer service to all members of the public.
- Answer calls received at a centralised switchboard and, by use of prescriptive questioning, filter calls and direct callers to the relevant department or person promptly and effectively.
- Where suitable, advise and resolve at first point of contact.
- Operate the switchboard fault reporting system in accordance with procedure and notify supervisor if any action is necessary.
- Support the Control Room Operations as and when required, e.g. Major Incident situations.
- Receive and transmit data and message/data, e.g. email, and utilise Force Systems to resolve queries.
- Work closely with other team members to support various functions and contribute to team objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- IT skills and an understanding of Microsoft Office or similar IT packages.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to work well in a team.
- Self‑motivated and flexible.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent level of qualification (to include Maths and English). For those awaiting their GCSE Results, please provide predicted grades.
Eligibility
- Applications from individuals who already have an NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in Business Administration/Customer Service or a similar subject will not be accepted.
- There is no age limit on applications for this role and the Apprentice National Minimum Wage rate applies.
- Please note that if successful at interview you will be required to provide a reference. If you are a school leaver you will be required to provide your school as a reference.
