Cambrex Edinburgh is mainly engaged in the development and testing of materials for pharmaceutical use, submitted by a wide range of clients with products at various stages of drug development. As a laboratory technician based in Edinburgh, you will form an important part of our technical team and will provide vital support to the technical team maintaining the highest standards in:
- Equipment maintenance and calibration
- Lab organization
- Sample delivery and analysis
- Working within a quality framework
Responsibilities
- Perform daily, monthly and ad‑hoc calibration of laboratory equipment in line with schedules
- Conduct routine maintenance of non‑specialist laboratory equipment
- Manage receipt, control, storage and disposal of laboratory materials and client samples
- Transport of samples to external analysis vendor (local area)
Qualifications and Skills
- Practical experience in a chemistry laboratory setting (essential)
- Equipment calibration and maintenance e.g., TG/DSC, XRPD, DVS, pH meter, analytical balances, HPLC (desirable)
- Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Ability to work safely in a lab environment, adhering to local SHE policies (essential)
- Experience in working independently and within a team (essential)
- Working within ISO9001 quality standards (desirable)
- An enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and techniques
- The motivation and the organisational planning tools to manage workload
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and priorities
Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements
- Minimum HND or degree qualification in a relevant scientific field (general chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering) or previously operated in a similar role (essential)
