About the company
You will be working for a growing Lloyd’s Broker specialising in Marine insurance business, with a network of offices operating in many main maritime hubs around the world. The business is multi-cultural and we are looking to recruit for a Senior Account Handler. We are fully service oriented, and we serve our customers with all our knowledge and passion. We can service any type of marine coverage but with the majority of our clients set on: Hull & Machinery / Increased Value / Freight Interest, P&I, War Risks, Kidnap & Ransom, Yachts. We place the business produced from our other group offices along with working directly with clients and other producing players. We therefore see a very wide variety of accounts and have vast experience in dealing with all types of tonnage, records, clients and trading.
About the role and responsibilities
You will need 10 years’+ experience in the London Insurance Market within a similar role and will need to be able to cope with a busy working environment, dealing with various tasks throughout the day.
- Handling own portfolio of accounts, within sub teams, including both Brokers and Account Handlers.
- Ability to create open market MRC’s and facility declaration off-slips and endorsements.
- Accurate preparation of client documentation in accordance with regulations and in line with CR procedures.
- Submission of MRC slips to Whitespace Platform and/or sending MRC slip agreements to Underwriters via email.
- Effectively manage all renewals and adjustments in a timely and professional manner to ensure completion.
- Review and/or prepare all the necessary documentation to be handed to the Technical team for processing risks details into our inhouse broking system.
- Calculating and processing premium across Hull & War Placements.
- Work closely and provide technical support to Placing Brokers in Hull & War team.
- Build and sustain relationships with colleagues abroad in CR offices.
- Attend weekly team meetings.
- Mentor other team members and share knowledge.

Essential
- 10 years + experience in the London Insurance Market
- Previous Marine Hull & War experience, with multinational exposure
- Proficient preparation of MRC slips with attention to detail
- A working knowledge of placing platforms (Whitespace would be beneficial)
- Proficiency in process driven role
- Diligence and ability to take ownership and work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills (verbally and written)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to effectively prioritise your workload, manage time and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality
- A working knowledge of Microsoft products (word, Excel and Outlook or similar software applications)
Desirable
- Interest in supervising a small team of Junior Account Handlers
- Experience supervising other team members’ work
- Knowledge of Italian language
- CII qualifications (or equivalent)
