Cambian Group, the UK's largest provider of specialist services in children's residential care, education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities, is looking for a dedicated individual to join the company as a Mental Health Practitioner.
The role requires previous experience in residentials and CAMHS settings, specifically within Looked After Children's services, and familiarity with a consultation model of service delivery.
Job Role- Embed a trauma‑informed approach across our complex care community residential services.
- Provide specialist assessments, formulate and implement therapeutic interventions, and support young people in school and home settings.
- Assess and identify needs of young people and staff through consultation, training and reflective practice.
- Provide therapeutic service to young people placed within community residential settings.
- Develop and implement trauma‑informed therapeutic interventions.
- Ensure timely support in both school and home settings.
- Work autonomously, make decisions and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality.
- Identify and mitigate risk of young people.
- Registered with a relevant professional organisation (HCPC, NMC, BACP).
- Higher‑level qualification in counselling, therapeutic support, psychotherapy, social work or nursing.
- Experience working with vulnerable young people in a therapeutic or counselling setting.
- Strong therapeutic consultation experience in a residential setting.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to plan and implement therapeutic and trauma‑informed approaches.
- Experience using a consultation model and understanding of reflective practice.
- Understanding of social, emotional and mental health difficulties, complex needs of vulnerable young people.
- Ability to work under pressure, remain calm in stressful situations, and work autonomously.
- Excellent accuracy, attention to detail and record‑keeping.
- Passionate, non‑judgemental, empathetic attitude towards vulnerable at‑risk young people.
- Willingness to undertake all training relevant to the role.
- Full clean driving licence (travel may be required).
- Previous experience with Looked After Children.
- Completion of trauma‑informed practitioner diploma.
