Position: Headteacher

Location: Yeovil, Somerset

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time

Salary Details: Up to £53,000 per annum

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Headteacher to lead our school into its next phase of growth and development. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a specialist provision and make a lasting impact on the lives of pupils.

The school:

Orchard School is an independent, DfE registered co-educational day school, providing specialist education for up to 25 students, aged 11–18 years. With 4 pupils on roll, this opportunity will be a growth project.

Main tasks:

  • Strategic direction and development of the school.
  • Provide inspiring and purposeful leadership for staff and pupils.
  • Work in partnership with the company, staff, stakeholders, and parents to generate the ethos and values underpinning the school.
  • Develop and embed a clear Vision & Values for the school, with aspirational aims and objectives for all learners, fostering a thriving and positive school community.
  • Continue to develop, implement, and review a School Development Plan to secure continuous improvement.
  • Implement a robust self-evaluation process across the school, including the formulation of an effective self-evaluation document.
  • Ensure school compliance with the Independent Schools Standards at all times.
  • Monitor and evaluate the school\’s performance, reporting to the company as required.
  • Manage school finances, organization, and administration to support its vision and aims.
  • Ensure policies and practices align with national, local, and school requirements.
  • Review the impact of policies, priorities, and targets, taking action if necessary.
  • Motivate and involve all staff and stakeholders in achieving the school\’s aims and objectives.
  • Engage with the external continuous improvement framework implemented by the National Lead.
