We are recruiting Support Workers to join our service in Bromsgrove, supporting young people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs, including behaviours that may challenge. We are looking for resilient, compassionate, and proactive individuals who are passionate about making a genuine difference in people’s lives. This is not a traditional care role. We are seeking people who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure, and support individuals through some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
About the Service – King George Close
King George Close is a residential care home located in a quiet residential street. The service supports up to five young people with a range of mental health diagnoses, learning disabilities, and/or autistic spectrum conditions. Our focus is on supporting individuals to develop independence and progress on their personal journey.

The individuals living at the service may present with:
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health needs
- Emotional dysregulation
- Self-harm behaviours
- Suicidal ideation
- Absconding behaviours
- Complex trauma backgrounds
- Behaviours that challenge services
Our aim is to create a safe, therapeutic, and person‑centred environment where individuals can develop emotional regulation, independence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Service User Interests
We actively support individuals to engage in meaningful activities, including:
- Arts and crafts
- Days out (theme parks, meals, social activities, Christmas markets)
- Holidays and short breaks
- Walks in the local community and parks
- Cooking and baking to build life skills
The Role
As a Support Worker, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred support in line with individual plans
- Build trusting and professional relationships
- Support individuals during periods of emotional distress
- Follow Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans
- Assist with daily living skills and personal care (where required)
- Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing
- Support with appointments, activities, and community access
- Maintain accurate records and work effectively within a team
- Work flexibly on a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, sleep‑ins, and waking nights

Essential Requirements
- Willingness to work towards a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis
- Commitment to safeguarding and person-centred practice
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
Desirable Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals with autism
- Experience supporting mental health needs
- Experience supporting individuals with self-harm or behaviours that challenge
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Full UK driving licence
- Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech)
