We are looking for a Lead Teacher to educate our pupils in our independent SEMH Chesham House school in Bury, Greater ManchesterOur small class sizes (never more than 4-5 students) provide the perfect environment for impactful teaching, supported by teaching assistants. About the Role: The Headteacher is seeking to appoint an aspiring Lead Teacher to join this thriving specialist school. Reporting to the Headteacher, they will be responsible for curriculum development across identified subject areas, the delivery of engaging and challenging lessons, ensuring that the department and the school are successful in achieving its aims. You will be an enthusiastic, flexible and determined individual who shares our values and is looking to develop their career in this specialist area. Who are we looking for? * We are looking for a qualified teacher with experience of curriculum development. While experience within a specialist provision would be desirable, we will consider applications from those who are currently working in a mainstream or college setting. * Subject specialism is essential for this post as is the knowledge of current best practice in your chosen subject. * Training and development will be provided for the successful candidate in line with the identified needs of the school, the skills of the individual and their prospective career progression. Key Accountabilities: * Work alongside the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to ensure the curriculum supports the needs of all students. * Plan and teach well-structured lessons. * Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs to motivate them. * Manage students’ SEMH needs effectively to ensure an enjoyable and safe learning environment. * Know and understand how to assess the relevant subject and curriculum areas within your responsibility, including statutory assessment requirements. Essential Criteria: * Experience (min 2 yrs) of working effectively with learners who experience difficulties similar to those experienced by students at this establishment, would be an advantage but not essential. * Experience of working effectively as part of a team. * Experience of planning and preparing schemes of work. * Experience of planning, delivering and assessing learning activities appropriate to individuals’ needs and abilities. * Experience of working successfully in situations which draw heavily on the ability to deal with difficult pressures and personal challenges. * A dedicated work ethic to ensure the needs of all students. * Is passionate about making learning effective and enjoyable. * Qualified in subject specialism. * DBS cleared and satisfactory references. * Ability to work on own initiative.
